Wolf Vishniac Memorial Award for Young Researchers

Wolf Vladimir Vishniac (April 22, 1922 – December 10, 1973) was an American microbiologist recognized for his pioneering work in the search for life on Mars. He received NASA’s first exobiology research award in 1959 for the “Wolf Trap” Life Detector, which was designed to fly on a Viking lander. The Wolf Vishniac Memorial Award for Young Researchers is presented to early career scientists no older that 35 years of age in recognition of their work. To be considered for the award, the applicant is required be the first author on a submission and make either an oral or poster presentation. The application package must include a cover letter stating eligibility, a curriculum vitae, and a manuscript intended for publication.
